Food Rescue with Purpose

Good food, no waste.
Real people, real impact.

Grassroots Grocery rescues surplus produce and delivers it to families, shelters, and food pantries across New York City — meeting people where they are with dignity and real nourishment.

Nathel & Nathel is proud to be part of that mission — guided by a shared belief that good food should reach everyone.

Grassroots Grocery is a mission-driven nonprofit working to bridge the gap between surplus food and underserved communities across New York City. By rescuing fresh, nutritious produce that might otherwise go to waste, they make sure it reaches families, shelters, and food pantries where it's needed most. But this isn't just about logistics — it's about connection. Grassroots Grocery brings warmth, dignity, and real nourishment to the people they serve, strengthening the bonds that hold communities together.

Grassroots Grocery at work

Grassroots Grocery runs on community. Farmers, market staff, volunteers, and neighbors all work together to get good food to where it's most needed. Through neighborhood pop-up markets and volunteer-led deliveries, they meet people where they are — physically and personally. Today, their work extends to teaching families about nutrition, meal prep, and the value of fresh, wholesome ingredients.

"It means more than just getting produce — it's about working with people who care as much as we do about fighting hunger in New York. Their reliability and generosity make a real difference."

Dan Zauderer  ·  Grassroots Grocery

The ripple effect of their efforts extends far beyond just filling plates. By reducing food waste, supporting local growers, and creating space for neighbors to step in and help, they're building a more sustainable and more connected food system. Nathel & Nathel is proud to support that work — guided by a shared belief that when people come together with purpose, no one gets left behind.
